Babies make the best workout partners

What do you do when your baby walks in expecting to cuddle at the exact same moment that your abs, glutes and shoulder blades are begging you to quit your morning workout? If you said “thank God for divine intervention and give in to the cuddle,” you are thinking the same thing I thought at 5:15 this morning.

Fortunately, the PT in me overrode that suggestion and I decided to incorporate my son into the exercise routine instead. Believe me, as is true in every other area of life, children can only enhance the experience. Butt lifts with an extra 35 pounds undoubtedly burns more calories. Child’s pose with a human being strapped to your back definitely deepens the stretch. Arm elevation with a moving person in your hands unquestionably calls for increased muscle recruitment.

A study performed in England showed that 75% of women would like to work out more. A study from The Journal of Women and Aging states that only 12% of women are satisfied with their body. If you are a part of the 88% of women who are not satisfied, then I challenge you to decide today not to let anything stop you from achieving your fitness goals. Happy Wednesday ladies!
